About the Role

Ambisense UK is currently looking for a full time Technical Manager to lead our UK technical team and assist with our growing workload. As a core member of the UK team, you will be expected to work within this team, sometimes autonomously and deliver on works (mostly lab-based but also field-based) as scheduled. You will work closely with the UK Operations team to drive technical development and continuous improvement. The role will have a clear focus on internal and external customer requirements, expectations and delivery.  The ideal candidate will relish the challenge of leading the technical development, maintenance and support of all Ambisense hardware in the UK and should enjoy working in a fast-paced environment where adaptability and flexibility is key to success.  As a key member of the team, the ideal candidate will be comfortable delivering under pressure.

  • Support Managers/Directors with Business Development
  • Provide high-quality technical advice both internally and to our clients
  • Mentoring and technical training of junior staff
  • Promote and drive forward quality and standards within the business
  • Represent Ambisense on key industry committees/events
  • Contribute technical articles
  • Technical Reporting
  • Travel – travel within the UK and potentially abroad
  • Undertaking testing, calibration & installation of new and existing products.
  • Handling of RMA processes – debugging to component level, fault finding and repair

Qualifications & Experience

  • A minimum of a Degree in Electronic Engineering or related discipline
  • Valid CSCS card (preferable but not essential)
  • Minimum 5yrs experience in instrumentation/sensors/electronic hardware role in the electronics/instrumentation industry, ideally in the environmental/geotechnical sector
  • Ability to debug electronic PCBs to component level and experience in using schematics, multimeters, oscilloscopes, etc.
  • Experience in IoT/telemetry modules an advantage
  • Must be competent in dealing directly with clients and sub-contractors in the field
  • Ability to problem solve in the field and communicate site feedback into continuous improvement/development cycle
  • Experience in C and/or Python programming languages an advantage

Essential Requirements

  • Full UK Driving licence
  • IT literacy (MS packages)
  • Fluency in spoken and written English
  • Right to work in the UK

The successful applicant will be based from our North-West, HQ near Chester or our Southern office in the South East (Rainham, Essex).
